What makes this the best turkey burger recipe you’ll ever taste? First, they’re packed with flavor, and most importantly, they’re always juicy thanks to a surprise ingredient to keep the them from drying out. They’re going to be a favorite for summer cookouts and easy weeknight dinners!

Ground turkey burgers are much leaner than ground beef hamburgers. This means that, just like with my bison burgers, they need to be dressed up with other ingredients to keep them tender and juicy. One of the ways to lock moisture in the patty while it cooks is to add onions or garlic, which “sweat” when they are cooked and keep the burger moist. But in these burgers, I use another surprising ingredient to make them extra juicy: almond flour! It adds richness and helps keep the juices in the burger, rather than letting them drip off.
What Makes These Turkey Burgers a New Classic
I’ve made a couple different kinds of turkey burgers in the past, like Southwestern turkey burgers and avocado turkey burgers, but these turkey burgers are your classic recipe. Just a basic, mouthwateringly savory patty you can add all your favorite toppings to!
- Super juicy. Dry burgers? Not here! I cracked the code for juicy, tender turkey burgers that never disappoint.
- The easy summer dinner you need. During summertime, burgers are one of my favorite easy dinners. Just shape them into patties and then they cook up super fast on the grill.
- Always a crowd-pleaser. Truly, you can never go wrong with a burger for dinner.

What You’ll Need
These turkey burgers are made with simple pantry staples, along with the ground turkey and fresh toppings. Scroll down to the recipe card for exact measurements.
- Ground turkey – While I include ingredients to make these turkey burgers juicy regardless, if you want the absolute juiciest, use ground turkey with a higher fat content.
- Almond flour – My secret ingredient! Use almond flour, not meal; almond meal is more coarsely ground, while almond flour blends in better with the turkey mixture.
- Dried parsley and black pepper – Pantry seasonings that add a little pizzazz.
- Red onion and garlic – For moisture and flavor.
- Burger buns – I like to toast these on the grill so they’re lightly charred.
- Toppings – Lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, pickles, and all your favorite condiments.

How to Make Turkey Burgers
These burgers come together in just a few easy steps.
- Preheat the grill. Heat your grill to medium-high heat.
- Mix the burger mixture. In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, almond flour, parsley, diced red onion, garlic, and black pepper.
- Form the patties. Use your hands to gently mix everything together, then shape into 6–8 patties.
- Season. Sprinkle both sides with salt.
- Grill the burgers. Place the patties on the grill and cook for 4–6 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Toast the buns. Place the buns cut-side down on the grill for 1–2 minutes until warm and lightly charred.
- Assemble. Spread condiments on the bottom bun, add the patty, then top with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and the top bun.

Tips for the Best Burgers
Whether you’re making this turkey burger recipe or another type of burger, these are the cardinal rules for burger perfection:
- Don’t overmix the meat. Over-working the meat will make the burgers dense and tough instead of tender.
- Oil the grill grates. This helps prevent sticking, which is especially important with a leaner ground meat.
- Use a meat thermometer. Turkey burgers are in the poultry category and therefore need to be fully cooked when eaten. They’re are done when the internal temperature reaches 165ºF.
- Make a small indentation in the middle. Pro-tip! Press your thumb lightly into the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.
What to Serve with Turkey Burgers
