Do you ever feel overwhelmed, caught up in the moment with emotion that it brings you to tears?

Usually it happens to me when its around “that time of the month” haha.. but not this time.

We were at church this past Sunday. We were singing a song that we’ve sang before, but for some reason the words just struck right to my heart. It was exactly what I needed to hear.

I’ve heard a thousand stories of what they think your like
But I’ve heard the tender whisper of love in the dead of night
And you tell me that your pleased and that I’m never alone
Your a good good Father
Its you are. Its you are. Its you are.
And I’m loved by you.
Its who I am. Its who I am. Its who I am.

And I’ve seen many searching for answers far and wide
But I know we’re all searching for answers only you provide
Cuz you know just what we need before we say a word.
Your a good good Father
Its you are. Its you are. Its you are.
And I’m loved by you.
Its who I am. Its who I am. Its who I am.

Because you are Perfect in all of your Ways
You are perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways to us

Love so undeniable I, I can hardly speak.
Peace so unexplainable I, I can hardly think
A you call me deeper still, as you can me deeper still
As you call me deeper still into love, into your love.
Your a good good Father.

The day before I was working on my blog, trying to get stuff ready for the next week. I flipped over to my google analytics account to see “how my blog numbers” were doing and it was not looking so hot. In fact for the first time I was kinda discouraged about it. Normally I can pull myself up, I’m not one to just sit and sulk. But I let the numbers get the better of me, and let them define who I am as a person. This is popped in my head —> “If people aren’t looking at your blog its because they don’t like what you have to say, they aren’t interested in your recipes, or your photography. You pour time into this ‘blog’ and it’s not getting better, you’re just not as good as the others out there!”

Total lie! But I just couldn’t get it out of my head. Until that is, the next morning when I heard this song. God knew exactly how I needed to be encouraged. He has called me to write this blog, be vulnerable, share my heart with you and my recipes so that is what I’m going to do. Regardless of the numbers. They do not define who I am. Only He does!

The words to this song are absolutely beautiful, it makes me visualize a daddy coming into his daughters room while she is sleeping, pushes her hair back from her face and says “i’m so pleased with you and you know that I will always be here no matter what.” Gives her a kiss then leaves. That is who God is, he’s the one who comes into our rooms to tell us exactly what we need to hear because he loves us. He doesn’t hold back his love from us one bit, we just have to be willing to receive it! This is what overwhelmed me and brought me to tears that Sunday morning! I hope it encourages your hearts sweet friends!

Ok, now to satisfy your hunger!

Chimichurri is quickly becoming one of my favorite ways to add flavor to a dish. In fact the other day I made a bruschetta with a chimichurri base, it was incredible! That is coming soon too! But for today, let’s focus on this Grilled Flank Steak with Avocado Chimichurri!

Super simple to make, gluten free, and fits into the paleo diet! Best part is it packs a huge punch of flavor!

The Grilled Flank Steak I kept nice and simple, just salt and pepper to season. The flavor comes from the chimichurri! It is packed with fresh herbs, lime juice, tangy vinegar, and some heat from the red pepper flakes. Then I mixed this chimichurri base with creamy avocado and whoazer! It totally puts this dish over the top. We had family over the night I made this and it was gone in seconds! Next time I will double this recipe for sure!

Can’t wait to hear what ya’ll think of this meal. Did I mention its done in less than 20 minutes! Yippee!

Bon Appetite!

  1. I could have written this post myself – this is EXACTLY how I have been feeling lately – totally discouraged and letting my numbers dictate my worth – NOT anymore!! thank you for this and the delicious recipe 🙂

  2. It’s hard not to focus on the numbers! I just read a quote yesterday that said “Don’t compare your inside with someone else’s outside.” I think it can apply to blogs as well. Your grilled flank steak sounds fantastic!

  3. Words of wisdom, Krista! For a while a had a piece of paper taped to the wall above my desk that said “my blog stats do not define me”. It’s good to remember where my worth comes from.

  4. Ugh, those numbers! Grrrrr! Thank GOD for positive messages making their way to us when we most need them. Your blog is awesome, your recipes rock and your photos make me drool each and every time. Keep on keepin’ on!!
Right now I have one wish – getting my hand through this monitor and attacking that gorgeous steak!

    1. Right! Its like he knows what we need to hear when we need to hear it! 🙂 hehe

Thank you so much Kate, you are so sweet and it means alot coming from you because I love your blog!

  5. Isn’t it a comforting feeling when you unexpectedly get just what you need?!

And this steak looks amazing! I am actually not a huge chimichurri fan, but I think I would love this avocado version! It looks delicious!

This recipe was ridiculously delicious!! There was not one morsel left after my family got through with it. And the chimichurri with avocado was so tangy and yum that I’ve been making it repeatedly to try with different meats and salads. Glad I found this one, it’s a keeper! Thank you!

    1. Oh hurray! So pumped to hear it Stacy! And gurl, you are so right! I would bathe in that avocado chimichurri sauce if I could. heaven in a bit! 😉

  7. Karen

I’m going to try this tomorrow sounds delicious..I hope it’s good with new York strip, because that’s what I’m fixing.. I love your blog God always knows what we need and when we need it. Keep up the good work God has your back😀

  8. Jennifer

I made the avocado chimichurri sauce tonight and it was so delicious! I also served it with flank steak but made it a bit differently (the store had a pre-marinated version). Husband loved the avocado chimichurri sauce too and he’s super picky! yay!

    1. Awesome! So glad it hear it Jennifer! This recipe is one of our favorites. And way to go on the pre-marinated option, I bet it added so much flavor! You just need to be sure to look at the ingredients, a lot of times on the pre-marinated they add way more salt to help it “keep”. 🙂

  9. Hey this is cool. I’ve never heard of Chimichurri before. (Love it when you find something new!) I’ll definitely add this to my list of steak condiments. Do you think it will go well with pork also?

    1. Oh man Will! You are missing out! It is a game changer for sure! And honestly, it goes well with any protein so you’re good if you’re pairing it with pork!

  10. HChoiniere

This is delicious!! I frequent a Mexican restaurant where they serve a chimichurri sauce exactly like this! I even tried to duplicate it at home but wasn’t quite as good. This recipe is perfect! Thank you so much for sharing this!

  11. Lisa

This recipe looks wonderful and I love what you said about the song inspiring you–that God loves us always and we are perfect exactly as we are, not by how well we “perform!”

  12. Joel

Hello! Do you know if the chimichurri sauce will keep for several days (in case I wanted to make batch meals from this recipe)?

    Thanks!
