POMEGRANATE MARGARITAS an easy cocktail you can rock all year round! Filled with pomegranate juice, fresh lime juice, tequila, orange liquor and a little something extra! Cheers to Margaritas!
One Tequila, Two Tequila, Three Tequila, Four ….
And then you can’t remember how to count … because well … you’re on four tequila and that’s a lot of tequila.
This past weekend we had my husbands company Christmas Party. Every year is fun. We usually go to a restaurant to have dinner together, do a gift exchange (which are gifts that Mike’s company buys .. so they are fun!) and then afterwards we’ll head out with a couple of employees to catch a drink and just hang out. It’s a blast.
But last year I mixed my drinks and it turned out no bueno. (that means “no good” for those of you who don’t speak spanish)
Last year, we went to a nice steak house restaurant and what goes well with steak? Red Wine. So I had two glasses of red wine that night. After dinner and the party we headed out for some cocktails with the other employees. One of the guys ordered tequila shots for the whole table. I was hesitant and even said … “me and tequila don’t do well together.” But pure pressure gave in, I did the shot and within 10 minutes immediately regretted it. The room felt like it was spinning and it was all I could do to not throw up. We left soon after that so I could lay down … cuz believe me I NEEDED it!
This year a couple of the guys came up to me and said … “ok krista, tequila shots.” It was a HARD no this time and they knew why. They were just doing it to tease me, the little stinkers! Then one of them came up to me and said … “hey krista remember last year … you were done after one shot? haha”
Yes … yes I remember and I’ll never do it again!
This year I stuck to the wine and it was such a fun night! And most importantly, I felt GREAT … no virtigo or nausea for me. Woohoo!
So what’s the moral of the story? Don’t mix your liquors! It never turns out well. And don’t do tequila shots! Whew!
BUT!!!!! If you must drink tequila … do it in a margarita! More specifically this Pomegranate Margarita!
The key to a good margarita is fresh ingredients and quality tequila. BOTH of which this Margarita Recipe has … so get ready for an awesome, delicious, smooth as butter cocktail!
It is filled with fresh squeezed lime juice, orange juice (which added a nice sweetness to it), Grand Marnier, Tequila, agave nectar instead of simple syrup, and pomegranate juice to give a nice red hue. Ahem… did you notice the colors are very festive for this time of year. Red and Green people … it’s like this recipe, Christmas week, and you were meant to be!
The good news is, this is a cocktail you can enjoy all year round! It might look Christmas-y but the flavors are good for any season! Bring on the Margaritas!
Just be careful of the tequila shots! (ok, and now i have that “tequila makes her clothes fall off” song in my head) This Margarita won’t do that. Ok, now we’re getting weird. I’m just gonna stop while I’m ahead and end on this!
Make this Pomegranate Margarita! I know it will be a hit at your next party or fiesta. The flavors burst in your mouth but it so smooth at the same time. Basically it’s mind blowing.
Stay thirsty my friends!
