It’s Wednesday! So let’s ‘wet your whistle’ with a little cocktail action. Shall we?

On a side note, that was a lot of “w’s” for just the first sentence. Wow!

Ok, I’m done.

On a more serious note. I really did feel like because we are halfway through the week AND on the heels of Taco Tuesday Margaritas were in order!

But these are no ordinary Margaritas, oh no. If you want those then you need to head over to my Ultimate Classic Margaritas!

If you want something a little more jazzed up, filled with citrus flavor, a little tangy, and enough for a crowd then stick around. You’re in for a treat!

Not only is this Margarita gorgeous in color from the bright vibrant hue of the blood oranges but it is incredibly simple to make and contains no simple syrup. All you need are your muscles to juice up some fresh citrus and a pitcher!

This Blood Orange Margarita is made with three different citrus fruits, blood orange (of course), fresh orange juice, and fresh lime juice.

The KEY to this recipe is FRESH juices. None of this pre-squeezed or purchased juices. If you want the flavor to deliver then you have to do the work. It’s the same as cooking, your tv meal is not going to taste the same as a home cooked meal. Neither with packaged juice taste the same as fresh squeezed! So FRESH juices people!

Next up. Good Tequila! We’ve found that Don Julio is our favorite, but if you have a favorite, by all means use it!

Now, I thought this recipe was perfect as is. My husband thought it was a little tangy. So, my remedy to counteract the tang is to add maybe a 1/2 -3/4 cup of sparkling water. It will smooth out the flavors. But that’s only if you think it’s too tangy … pfff weirdos!

If you can stand to have a little hair on your chest AND really want to taste the fresh juices then this recipe is for you! It is bold on flavor, fresh, light, refreshing, full of citrus flavor and perfect for a summer night! Or Cinco de Mayo Fiesta!

So, if you are looking to have a fun cocktail tonight or this weekend these Blood Orange Margaritas definitely need to be on the top of your list.

Bon Appetit!

NOTE: for those of you who like a frozen margarita as opposed to an “on the rocks”, just add ice to this recipe, throw it in the blender and viola! 🙂

Enjoy and stay thirsty my friends! {sorry I had to :)}
