This past weekend was much needed. Honestly, it was just one day, but that day refreshed my soul.

I’d say that the past year I have felt like I’ve been in a fog. Knowing what I should do, think or feel but not doing anything about it. I felt motivated by the wrong things, striving for “worldly success” and in an unending comparison game. I’ve been constantly busy, but with unimportant tasks.

But this weekend. Oh. This weekend. It opened my eyes, my mind and my heart. I feel activated.

So here’s me getting real.

When I started this blog my passion was to help women see themselves as beautiful. I wanted to help them stop believing lies about themselves and to see who they really are. I wanted to encourage you and inspire you to live a healthy lifestyle by giving you simple strategies and easy healthy recipes. Why? Because all of those things WERE me before I found freedom in that, so I wanted to help others do the same!

I wanted to feed your tummies and your souls! For me, it was a ministry to help people find healing and wholeness.

But somehow I got caught up in the numbers. The amount of people who viewed my blog, how many likes I got, how many people commented on my social media posts, how many pins I received. I was looking to be like others, to catch up with their success. It was all business and that passion I had started with went away. I began to focus on what society tells us to focus on … the outside.

Well guess what, focusing on that is exhausting, unrewarding and emotional discouraging. Social media will beat you up and spit you back out if you let it, and I let it.

I was looking from side to side instead of looking up! Allowing society to define me instead of my creator!

No wonder I felt lost, exhausted and discouraged. I wasn’t filling myself with the one person who gave me my identity, who literally gave me breathe and life! This past Saturday was exactly what I needed. I cried, prayed, worshipped and took lots of notes as powerhouse speaker after speaker stepped to the stage to propel us to live out our God given purpose! You guys, I have never felt more empowered and excited.

That passion I started this blog with has come back. I am refocused, recharged and ready to pour my heart out again.

Have you noticed that when your not “full” you can’t “fill” others?

Ok. Let’s move on to this tasty breakfast grain bowl shall we?

This recipe was one of the recipes I made at the Foodie Bootcamp a month ago. It has a combination of grains cooked in almond milk then topped with fresh fall fruits, yogurt and of course cinnamon! This bowl will warm your tummy right up and give you the nutrients you need to start the day.

You’ll want to keep this recipe in your back pocket after you indulge on the things at Thanksgiving.

Description

An easy fall inspired gluten free dairy free breakfast bowl! This power house Apple Cinnamon Breakfast Grain Bowl is filled with nutrients and flavor. 


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/3 cup quinoa, cooked
  • 1/4 cup bobs red mill gluten free oatmeal
  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • 2 tablespoons coconut milk yogurt
  • 1/3 cup thinly sliced apple
  • 1 tablespoon pomegranate arils
  • 1 tablespoon candied pecans, crushed
  • drizzle of honey (or maple syrup for vegan)
  • dash of cinnamon

Instructions

  1. To a small bowl add gluten free oatmeal and almond milk. Stir to mix.
  2. Place in microwave, uncovered, and cook for 1-2 minutes. Until desired consistency.
  3. Remove from microwave and add cooked quinoa,  coconut milk yogurt, sliced apples, pomegranate arils, candied pecans and a dash of cinnamon. Drizzle with honey (or maple syrup for vegan).
  4. Serve!
