Pomegranate Gin Cocktail

Can you believe it will be NOVEMBER in 2 days! Y’all, where has the time gone?

I know I say this every year, but it’s especially shocking this year because the closer we get to the holidays, the closer I am to having a one year old. I feel like I just delivered Maddie, so the fact that she is almost a year is mind blowing. I knew the first year would go fast, but not this fast!

All that to say. My baby is almost a year. We are about to enter the holidays. So, it’s time for a holiday drink! Cheers!

The funny thing about this Festive looking Holiday Pomegranate Gin Cocktail is ….

I’VE NEVER ACTUALLY TRIED GIN.

So before I made a gin cocktail, I figured a taste and a little sniff sniff was in order. Guys, it smells glorious. Honestly, it smells like juniper berries and tastes like Christmas. Why have I not tried gin before.

Gin is a little bitter at first taste. So for this gin cocktail I knew I had to counteract the bitter with sweet. I combined pomegranate juice, orange juice, honey and then a little sparkling water for bubbles.

What Makes this One of the Best Gin Cocktails?

Not only is this tasty cocktail gorgeous to look at, it’s perfect for the winter months we are about to head into.

  1. It’s screams festive with all the holiday colors, bright vibrant red with notes of orange and green. 🙂
  2. The gin will warm you up from the chill of the winter.
  3. This cocktail is incredible smooth with the pomegranate and orange combo. Which could be good or dangerous depending on how you look at it. Hmmmm.
  4. It’s perfect for a party.

How to Make This Gin Cocktail in Advance

Don’t want to play bartender all night? No problem. Make this holiday pomegranate gin cocktail for a pitcher:

  • 1 1/4 cups pomegranate juice
  • 1 1/4 cups fresh orange juice
  • 10 teaspoons honey
  • 1 1/4 cups sparkling water
  • 2 1/2 cups of gin
  • fresh thyme and orange slices for garnish

It think this holiday cocktail is better chilled or served over some ice. Just know, if you serve it over ice it may water the drink down a bit. I served mine chilled in a martini type glass.

It was absolutely divine! This sassy number will definitely be making an appearance at some of the holiday gathering we have at our house.

Smooth. Delicious. Gorgeous and Easy. What more could you ask for?

Cheers my friends!

  1. Seriously, 4 oz of liquor in a single serving is irresponsible. You need to modify this recipe. As a bartender, I know. 1.5 to 2 oz is a standard pour. This recipe won’t even pour into a standard single glass w/ garnish, or to the rim with a really big cocktail glass. Your recipe is wrong.

  2. 4 oz gin per single serving is too much and overwhelms a normal cocktail glass. Should be 2 oz. My mother in law is plowed.

    1. I haven’t tried it with vodka, but it should work. I would adjust the honey and taste as adding. Gin has a bitter taste, and honey helps balance that.

  3. Hi Krista! We have a non-drinker in our group, but I love the idea of using this cocktail base as a mocktail. Any suggestions for changes we might need to make if we omit the gin?

  4. Question – if I’m making the batch version of this cocktail am I definitely adding the sparkling water to the pitcher with the rest of the ingredients or mixing everything but the sparkling water and topping it off as people pour their drinks? The recipe says to put it all in the pitcher but my fear is the sparkling water going flat when the pitcher is stirred. Thanks!

    1. If you are making it ahead of time, I suggest waiting until the event starts to top it off. I put the sparkling water in the fridge, so it is cold. I hope this helps!

  5. I had very high expectations for this cocktail but am a bit perplexed. The ingredients minus the sparkling water fill the martini glass and there is no room for a full 1 cup of sparkling water after. I had to pour into a larger glass but doesn’t look as pretty. Or is it meant to be served in a tall glass?

    1. I am so sorry, Leslie. I hope you give this cocktail another try. It should be 2oz of sparkling water. You want to add all ingredients except sparkling water to the shaker (if you add the sparkling water, it will explode). Once shaken together, pour into a cocktail glass and top with sparkling water.

  6. Wow and Wow! This cocktail is very beautiful! I like this vibrant color and how simple a list of ingredients is. Of course I want to try this drink, I’m sure it’s very tasty.
