What Potatoes Are Best For Homemade Fries?

Dense, low-moisture potatoes like Yukon Gold and Russets are best for making fries at home. Since they don’t have as much water inside that needs to evaporate, this speeds up the cooking process and helps make them extra crispy compared to other potatoes.

Soak the Potatoes

Add sliced potatoes to a bowl of water and soak. 

Dry the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and lay them on a baking sheet. Dry them well. 

Add Seasoning 

Add potatoes to a large bowl and toss in your seasonings.

Bake It!

Pop the fries in the oven until they are golden and ready to eat!


Sprinkle with parmesan and garnish with parsley. Serve with your favorite condiments.
