Making homemade tomato sauce is easier than you think—and the results are so worth it!



  • 2.5 lbs of roma tomatoes
  • 1 cup of basil
  • 4 garlic cloves, in their shell
  • 1 tsp. of salt {add more if needed}
  • 1/2 tsp. of pepper
  • 3 T. of olive oil


  1. Wash roma tomatoes.
  2. Cut in half and place on a baking sheet.
  3. Next, place garlic cloves with shell on onto the baking sheet.
  4. Sprinkle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Place baking sheet into a 400º oven and roast for 25 minutes.
  6. Remove baking sheet from oven and let cool.
  7. Next, remove garlic clove shells.
  8. Place all tomatoes and garlic in a blender along with fresh basil, salt, and pepper.
  9. Blend until desired consistency.
  10. Serve up with some whole wheat pasta.
