I seriously cannot even believe that our little man turned 2 this past Sunday. I can remember not so long ago when he was just itty bitty.. well kinda. {he came out at 9lb. 2oz… and I had that big baby drug free…. flexing my arms :)}
We went from this…
To this….
To this…
Looking back at all the pictures since Cason was born literally brought me to tears. I was overwhelmed with emotion from the joy that he has brought to our lives. Almost every picture he was smiling, getting into something, discovering something new, or just being his cason self. 🙂
When we named him, the biggest thing to us was that the name had a rich meaning to it and that it meant who we wanted him to become. Cason’s full name means Godly Warrior and that is exactly who we want him to become. A man who fights for those weaker than him, who upholds justice, who values strength, a man of integrity, loyalty, but also a man of compassion, mercy, and a tender heart.
I can definitely see alot of those qualities coming out in him, and my prayer is that Mike and I, by God’s grace can continue to cultivate those in him.
As we were planning Cason’s 2nd birthday party I wanted to make it fun but also include some of the things he is really “into” right now. Fortunately it was pretty easy to pick because he is OBSESSED with Cars right now. So cars theme it was.
The first place to start was to find some invitations and party decor. Well, Minted.com made it super easy for me. It was basically a one stop shop. The best part about Minted.com is that is basically a pool of all different designers collection, so not one invite or party decor theme/design is the same = lots of variation! I found some super cute QUALITY invitations and then was able to match those invitations to party decor.
A Personalized party banner, personalized table signs for food, drinks, & treats, cupcake toppers, stickers for party favor bags, and all kinds of stuff. Finding everything all in one place = one happy and stress free mama! No going to this place and that place. They sent it all to our house, and even wrapped it up to show the specific designer that packaged it for us. How cool is that, I felt so special! 🙂
Of course to add a little more “pizzaz” to the party we amped it up with some intense tire bean bag toss competition and pinata action. However, the best laid plans can often go astray.
When Mike and I got to the party location to decorate, which was outside, it was cold {in the 50’s}, wet, windy, and rainy. Not optimal “party weather”, but after mulling it over we decided to move forward with that location. Trying to get things to stay in their spot was quite entertaining but amongst the chattering teeth, wet bottoms, and shaking hands we had a blast!
Cason absolutely loved every second of it and the look on his face when people were singing happy birthday to him was priceless. More so because he had been singing the song for weeks now to himself, so for people to sing to him made him smile with unending glee!
Happy Birthday sweet boy, we love you to the moon and back! 🙂
*I received product for this post, but all opinions are 100% my own.*
Aaw, happy happy belated bday to Cason! He’s so adorable and I love the meaning of his name 🙂 So glad he enjoyed the party, you did a fantastic job Krista – I love the cupcakes and all the hard work definitely makes it worth it when you see how much fun he had 🙂
Thanks Kelly, can’t believe he is already 2! Where has the time gone? That cupcakes were so good, especially because I used coconut oil so there was a slight coconut hint to them. YUM! 🙂
Happy belated to Cason! He’s so cute, and it makes me wish my boys were that age again. (sigh) I love the decorations — what a lovely party you threw him!
haha… Yeah I wish he would stay that age forever. Don’t even want to think of him driving yet or having a girlfriend heaven forbid! 🙂
Love the cupcakes, but my favorite part was your explanation of naming your son. I was nodding my head in agreement with all the terms you mentioned about what you want Cason to grow up to be. My husband and I took serious consideration when naming both our kids too, and we really need as much of God’s grace as we can get to raise these little cuties to be Jesus-seekers. Enjoy your two year-old little man. He’s a cutie!
Exactly!! Glad we are on the same page with that, a name is not just a name. It is so much more, we can speak words of life or death over our children everyday and their name is the one thing we say constantly. I for sure wanted that to be words of life! 🙂
Thanks so much for the sweet comment Jelli! Made my day, bigs hugs your way!
Happy Birthday, Cason! That’s a great looking party!! Love all the special touches like the refueling station! And those cupcakes look amazing!
Thanks Chris, you better take notes for when you and your wifey start having those kiddos. 🙂
