Apple Ginger Crisp Smoothie
I’m- about-to-start-crying-as-I-run-into-the-vineyard-to-hide-so-I-can-stay-forever. Please don’t make me go back home!
Today is the day I leave Napa Valley, and I’m so sad. But amidst the sadness is also crazy excitement because my friend Carrie is stopping in to take over the blog for today.
Carrie is absolutely incredible. She has a huge heart, is a great mom, and absolutely the most creative person in the kitchen I know! She was one of the bloggers that “took me under their wing” and helped JHE become what it is today.
So, with no further adieu, let me introduce you to Carrie!
Hello all!
My name is Carrie, & I am happy to be hanging out at Joyful Healthy Eats just for today sharing my delicious & healthy recipe for this Apple-Ginger Crisp Green Smoothie.
But first let me say hello and tell you a little about myself and my blog…
I have been blogging over at Frugal Foodie Mama since January of 2011. Most often you will find me there sharing my favorite recipes, my antics as a stay-at-home mama to a toddler and a teenager, & my tips for how I have managed to remain a foodie on our single income budget.
Green smoothies have somewhat become a new passion of mine. They are such a tasty way to sneak in even more of those good-for-you leafy greens each day. Throw a handful of nutritious spinach or kale into a smoothie and the only thing that may change is the color.
But it is next to impossible to actually taste the greens in green smoothies.
This Apple-Ginger Crisp Green Smoothie has so much good stuff packed and blended into it- you will probably be surprised by just how much it tastes like it’s namesake dessert! 😉

Description
This healthy Apple Ginger Crisp Smoothie is full of apple flavor with a hint of ginger. It’s super easy to make as a snack, breakfast or healthy dessert!
Ingredients
- 1/2 medium apple, chopped and then frozen
- 1/2 cup nonfat or low fat vanilla Greek or regular yogurt
- 2 tbsp toasted oats (Click here for the easy recipe.)
- Handful of fresh spinach or kale
- 1/8 tsp freshly grated ginger
- 1/2 cup almond milk
- Drizzle of honey or 1 tsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp apple butter
Instructions
- Add all all ingredients to your blender and blend until smooth.
- Pop a straw in your blender cup or pour into a glass and enjoy!
Notes
**Tip- I chopped the apple the day before and divided it between 2 small freezer bags. I froze the chopped apple overnight. I did not peel my apples because I wanted the added nutrients & fiber from the skin in my smoothie, but there were little chunks of skin in the smoothie. If the pieces of skin would bother you, feel free to peel and then chop your apple before freezing it for this smoothie.
