Today is the day! Our church, along with a couple of other churches in the area are starting off the New Year with 21 Days of Fasting & Prayer.
When people say “fast” I’m sure the first thing that comes to mind is fasting from food all together and only drinking water. Well, it can mean that. But in this case fasting is more about the heart. Taking a deeper look into where your priorities are and abstaining from something in order to build a deeper relationship with God.
That being said, Mike and I are going to be on a Paleo Fast over the next 21 days. What is Paleo you ask? Well, it is basically eating “real” or “whole” foods. No sugar. No grains {bread, rice, pasta, cake, cookies, etc.}. No dairy. No alcohol. No legumes {beans}
Yes, there are alot of no’s in the prior sentence. So what can you have? Well… Meats. Vegetables. Eggs. Healthy Fats. Fruits. Anything from its “natural” state.
I know some people do this for a living, so it may not seem like much of a “fast”. But I like my grains, dairy, and sugar too much to give it all up. Which is why for these 21 days I am. 🙂
I cannot wait to see what God has in store for us as we give up some of the things we love to dive further into his word during these next 21 days. I would love it if some of you would join in with us, even if its just for a dietary reason! Its a great detox diet.
Here are a couple of the yummy Paleo Recipes we have in store for us over the next couple of weeks.
Easy Paleo Shrimp Cocktail
Peri Peri Chicken Kabobs

Pork Shank and Meatball Stew
Crock Pot Meatballs in Marinara Sauce
Celery Root & Cauliflower Puree
Paleo Gingerbread Granola Bar
Lemon Poppyseed Pancakes
Chicken Pho Zucchini Noodle Soup
Banana Walnut Date Shake
Chicken with 40 Garlic Cloves

Thanks to you and this post, I finally know what Paleo means. It’s been all around online lately, but I’ve never taken the time to learn about it. Thanks for sharing some great looking recipes, Krista. I’m checking some out right now.
Awesome Jelli! So glad to educate you, I was in the same boat you were so I figured there were more people like me who were wondering, “what in the world is paleo?” Hope you get a chance to make a few girl. 🙂
Oh Krista. You are determined to make me eat healthier, I see. LOL Thanks for so many wonderful ideas and options and for linking to our Best Of The Weekend party! Pinning now and have a great week!! xo

Awesome Reesa! Well, you are going to get a whole slew of them this month! I’m only 4 days into our Paleo Diet, but I’m definitely thinking about continuing it afterwards. 🙂
Thank you for sharing!!! What a great round-up!
Thanks Lexi! Excited to try a few of these. 🙂
Love that both you and your husband are doing this together. You can encourage one another when the sugar craving kicks in. Visiting via SITS. Love the clean, polished look of your site btw! 🙂
So funny you say that… after dinner tonight we both wanted sugar, sweets, chocolate, something! It is nice to have a partner in crime with this fast otherwise it would be double hard. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by Barb and the sweet comments! Hope you have a great rest of the day!
I hope this time of fasting is a blessing to you and your family!
Thank you so much Andrea, that means alot. God is already doing things and it is only day 4. 🙂
Oh Krista…some wonderful recipes here and some I do believe that my 11 yr old and I will try. (the mister is a VERY picky eater so I’m not so sure about him) I think it’s wonderful that your church is doing this together and I’m sending thoughts and prayers that you have no problems seeing this until the 21 days are up. Ya might not even want any cookies after eating so healthy. ^_^
Thanks so much Regina, you are too sweet! We definitely appreciate your prayers through these 21 days. 🙂
Hope you do get a chance to try a couple of these, who knows your hubbie may even like it! 🙂
Hi Krista! Stopping over from SITS. We eat very similar and I think you have great content. I am going to follow you on bloglovin and social media 🙂 I look forward to connecting in the future!
Based on the name of your blog, sounds like we are Tara. I will definitely head over and check you out, and of course give some blogging love. 🙂 Thanks for stopping over on my SITS day!
