Today is the day! Our church, along with a couple of other churches in the area are starting off the New Year with 21 Days of Fasting & Prayer.

When people say “fast” I’m sure the first thing that comes to mind is fasting from food all together and only drinking water. Well, it can mean that. But in this case fasting is more about the heart. Taking a deeper look into where your priorities are and abstaining from something in order to build a deeper relationship with God.

That being said, Mike and I are going to be on a Paleo Fast over the next 21 days. What is Paleo you ask? Well, it is basically eating “real” or “whole” foods. No sugar. No grains {bread, rice, pasta, cake, cookies, etc.}. No dairy. No alcohol. No legumes {beans}

Yes, there are alot of no’s in the prior sentence. So what can you have? Well… Meats. Vegetables. Eggs. Healthy Fats. Fruits. Anything from its “natural” state.

I know some people do this for a living, so it may not seem like much of a “fast”. But I like my grains, dairy, and sugar too much to give it all up. Which is why for these 21 days I am. 🙂

I cannot wait to see what God has in store for us as we give up some of the things we love to dive further into his word during these next 21 days. I would love it if some of you would join in with us, even if its just for a dietary reason! Its a great detox diet.

Here are a couple of the yummy Paleo Recipes we have in store for us over the next couple of weeks.

    Love that both you and your husband are doing this together. You can encourage one another when the sugar craving kicks in. Visiting via SITS. Love the clean, polished look of your site btw! 🙂

      So funny you say that… after dinner tonight we both wanted sugar, sweets, chocolate, something! It is nice to have a partner in crime with this fast otherwise it would be double hard. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by Barb and the sweet comments! Hope you have a great rest of the day!

    Oh Krista…some wonderful recipes here and some I do believe that my 11 yr old and I will try. (the mister is a VERY picky eater so I’m not so sure about him) I think it’s wonderful that your church is doing this together and I’m sending thoughts and prayers that you have no problems seeing this until the 21 days are up. Ya might not even want any cookies after eating so healthy. ^_^
